Prayer:
Scripture: Genesis 2:2 "And of the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made."
Creation Story: I held a picture of the creation and reminded Easton how Jesus created the beautiful world for us. We quickly reviewed the first six days and focused on the last day when Jesus rested. We want to be like Jesus, and he has given us a day to rest just like Him. The day we rest is Sunday. Let's talk about some of the things we do on Sundays.
Picture: I showed Easton the picture below (family going to church) from the manual. I asked Easton what he thought they were doing and explained how going to church is a great way to remember Jesus and Heavenly Father on Sundays. We talked about the church in the background and how the family members all looked their very best.
Song: "Fun to Do" (Primary Children's Songbook page 253) Click here to sing along. We pretended we were walking to church while singing this song:
Picture: After singing the song, we went back to the picture from the manual and explained the picture. We discussed the picture and talked about how we can remember Heavenly Father and Jesus as a family on Sundays. Easton is now at the age (2 1/2) where he remembers our Sunday routines. We asked Easton, "What are some things we do to remember Heavenly Father and Jesus on Sundays?" We sing and listen to church songs, watch church videos, go to church, read the scriptures, read church books, play church games, etc.
Coloring Book Activity: This activity is from the manual. Click here to print the coloring activity.
"While they are coloring, talk to them about the illustrations and remind them that these are things we do to remember and worship Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ on Sunday. When they are finished coloring, fold along the dotted lines to make a book. Then read the book to the children."
