Prayer:

Song: "I'm trying to be like Jesus" (Primary Children Songbook pg. 78-79) Click here to sing along. We used the actions from the manual while singing this song:

Love one another as Jesus loves you (hug self and turn from side to side)
Try to show kindness in all that you do (nod head up and down)
Be gentle and loving in deed and in though (hug self and turn from side to side)
For these are the things Jesus taught (nod head up and down)

Introduction & Scripture: While showing the picture below (from our Gospel Art Book), I told Easton that when Jesus lived on the earth he showed a perfect example of love and kindness. He was always helping others by serving them, blessing them and being nice to them. One of the things He taught the people was to be kind and love others. I feel like I need to be better at reading versus from the scriptures in our lessons, so I pulled out my scriptures and read John 15:12 "This is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you." I then told him that the scriptures told many stories of Jesus.

Story #1: Jesus feeds 5,000. I showed Easton the picture below and read the short summary from the manual: "Many people had come to hear Jesus teach. They were there a long time and got very hungry (have the children pretend to be hungry). There was only a little bread and fish to feed all of the people. Jesus blessed the food and told His disciples to give it to the people. Everyone had enough to eat, and there was a lot of food left over (have the children pretend to eat)."

Story #2: Jesus heals a Blind Man: Next, I showed Easton the picture below and read the short summary from the manual: "One day jesus saw a man who was blind--he could not see (have the children cover their eyes). Jesus blessed the man so he could see (have the children uncover their eyes)."

Story #3: Jesus blesses the Nephite Children: Next, I showed Easton the picture below and read the short summary from the manual: "After Jesus was resurrected, He visited the Nephites. Because He loved the children, He blessed each one of them (have the children hug themselves)."

Activity: Before the lesson, I printed pictures of people that Easton could show love to (mom, dad, baby Connor, Jesus, grandparents, friends, etc.) I put all the pictures in a brown, paper bag. Easton drew one picture from the bag and we talked about how he could show love to that person. For instance, when he drew a grandparent we talked about how he could give them a hug to show love to them. When he drew Jesus we talked about how he could say prayers to show love to Him. Etc. You could also draw/write names of people of slips of paper, instead of printing pictures.

Testimony: Summarize and bear testimony of the principles taught.
