Letter L: Leapfrog Letter Alphabet Review, Letter L Book, Letter L Handprint Art (lobster), Letter L Music Time (Day 1)

1) Leapfrog Magnetic Letter Set: This is one of Easton's favorite ways to review the alphabet. You place a magnetic letter in the bus and the bus repeats the letter and letter sound.
  • Hide the letters around the room or let your child draw one from a bag.

2) Letter L Book from The Measured Mom: Read this short book together and point out the Letter L and talk about the pictures together.

(picture to come)

3) Letter L Handprint Art (Lobster) from The Measured Mom: The body is actually supposed to be a little footprint, but Easton wasn't up for the idea of me painting his foot red. I was going to paint my own foot, but my footprint was too long for the paper. ;)

4) Letter L Music Time:
  • London Bridges Falling Down: Stand while singing this song. When you sing "falling down" have your child fall down and touch his/her hands on the ground.
London bridges falling down,
falling down, falling down
London bridges falling down,
My fair lady.
Mary had a little lamb,
little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
Whose fleece was white as snow

Everywhere that Mary went,
Mary went, Mary went,
Everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go.
  • Little Piggy: Wiggle your child's toes as you sing this song.
This little piggy went to market
(wiggle your child's biggest toe)
This little piggy stayed home
(wiggle your child's second toe)
This little piggy ate roast beef
(wiggle your child's third toe)
This little piggy ate none
(wiggle your child's fourth toe)
And this little piggy went
Wee, wee, wee! All the way home
(wiggle your child's pinky toe)

  • Five Little Ladybugs from Nuttin but Preschool: Use the magnetic lady bugs and remove them one at a time. Print the ladybugs and song from the link provided.
Five little ladybugs climbing up a door,
One flew away, and then there were four.

Four little ladybugs sitting on a tree.
One flew away, and then there were three

Three little ladybugs landed on a shoe.
One flew away, and then there were two.

Two little ladybugs looking for some fun.
One flew away, and there there was one.

One little ladybug sitting in the sun.
She flew away, and then there were none.

  • Leo the Lion: I couldn't find the tune anywhere, but I'll keep looking. This song is one of Easton's favorites.
Leo the Lion is the King of the Jungle,
And his jaws are big and wide.
If you hear him roaring
it is bound to be a warning
that you better run away and hide.
Shhh! You better run away and hide.
Shhh! You better run away and hide.
 ROAR!
