Letter F: Fire Truck Shape Craft, Firefighter Tot Pack, Put Out the Fire!, Visit a Fire Station (Day 5)

1) Shapes Fire Truck Craft from Sugaraunts: I cut out all the shapes prior to our activity and Easton identified them before gluing them onto our fire truck. Click the title "Shapes Fire Truck Craft" for a tutorial.

2) Firefighter Tot Pack from Teacher's Notebook: This is an amazing tot pack!

  • Includes: puzzles, numbers, shadow match, shape review, sorting, size sorting, beginning sounds, coloring page, and a few other ideas. Explain the items (ie: fire extinguisher).
  • I will cut out each of the pages and put them in separate baggies. Have your child draw a baggie and do the activity.
  • In order to print, you need to create a free account. Here are a few sample pages:

3) Put out the Fire! from Preschool Alphabet: Have your child wear a fireman hat (optional) and put out the fires. You'll need:
  • Orange Chalk OR Orange Foam Sheets
  • Spray Bottles filled with water
  1. Chalk Option: Draw small flames on your garage or fence with orange chalk. Write the letter F inside all the flames.
  2. Foam Sheet Option: Cut multiple flame shapes and write the letter F inside the flames. Tape the flames to the garage or fence. If the weather isn't nice outside, tape the flames to a bathtub wall.
  3. Have your child spray the flames with water! The chalk flames will come off the garage/fence, and the foam piece will only get wet.

(picture to come)

4) Fire Station Outing: If you haven't taken your child to the fire station, you need to! I was so nervous to go, thinking the firemen were busy and wouldn't want any visitors. I was wrong. The fireman were so kind and welcoming. Easton loved:

  • The garage opening with the firetruck inside!
  • Touching the firetruck and special gadgets
  • "Driving" the firetruck
  • Watching the lights turn on and spin
  • His new fireman hat - the fireman gave us
