Letter F: Rescue the Alphabet, Letter F Book, Letter F Handprint Art (Flamingo), Letter F Music Time (Day 1)

1) Rescue the Alphabet from Mom Inspired Life: Another fun alphabet review activity. You'll need:

  1. Prep: Place letters on the fridge. Make a ladder out of tape leading to the fridge.
  2. When you're ready to play, teach your children about fireman and how they use ladders to help rescue animals or people.
  3. Explain that the letters are in danger! They need your help. Call out a letter or have your child decide which letter to rescue and bring them over to the basket to save them.

2) Letter F Book from The Measured Mom: Easton has enjoyed these little books. They are very simple, with only eight pictures. They are great for a little one just learning letters and new words. Click the title "My Letter F Book" and scroll down to Letter F to print.

3) Letter F Handprint Art (Flamingo): I can't get enough of Easton's little handprint! You'll need:
  • Pink Tempera Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • White Paper
  • Black & Pink Marker
  1. Paint your child's hand pink and help them stamp it onto a piece of white paper.
  2. Once the paint dries, draw a flamingo head and legs.
  3. Draw a Letter F on the top of the paper and hang on the fridge.

4) Letter F Music Time:
  • Five Little Speckled Frogs from Picklebums: Use the visuals, popsicle sticks and an empty paper towel roll (or play dough as the log). I'll write the numbers on the frogs and may make some sort of pond for the frogs to jump into.
Five Little Speckled Frogs,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating the most delicious grub
Yum! Yum!

One jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are four green speckled frogs.

(Repeat: Four, Three, Two, One)

  • Old MacDonald Had a Farm Music Basket from Play, Learn, Everyday: Have your child choose an animal and apply the animal into the song. ie: If you child draws a cow, sing the words below:
Old MacDonald had a farm,

EE-I-EE-I-O!
And on that farm he had a (cow)
With a moo, moo here
And a moo, moo there.
Here a moo, there a moo
Everywhere a moo, moo.
Old MacDonald had a farm,
EE-I-EE-I-O!

  • F is for Firefighter from The Measured Mom: Wear fireman helmets and do actions, while singing this song.
I'm a little firefighter on the go,
(point to self)
Here is my helmet
(point to head)
Here is my hose
(stretch arm out, pretending to hold a hose)
When I see a fire, hear me shout
(Put hand on forehead, pretending to look for a fire)
"Turn on the water, and put the fire out!"
(cup hands over mouth)
SHHHHHHHH!

(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)
  • Slippery Fish from Ready, Steady, Blog: Use these visuals as you sing the song. You could do popsicle sticks or magnets and a magnetic cookie sheet.
Slippery fish, slippery fish, gliding through the water.
Slippery fish, slippery fish, Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!
Oh no! It's been eaten by a...

Octopus, octopus squiggling in the water.
Octopus, Octopus, Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!
Oh no! It's been eaten by a...

Tuna fish, tuna fish flashing in the water.
Tuna fish, tuna fish, Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!
Oh no! It's been eaten by a...

Great white shark, great white shark lurking in the water.
Great white shark, great white shark, Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!
Oh no! It's been eaten by a...

Humongous whale, humongous whale spouting in the water.
Humongous whale, humongous whale, Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!
BURP! Excuse me.
