The BEST Alfredo Sauce
I am not kidding when I say this is the BEST Alfredo sauce. I've been searching for this recipe (slightly adapted from The Recipe Critic) for many years - one that's packed full of flavor and keeps it's flavor tossed with noodles. This sauce is the perfect creamy consistency and so delicious.
Ingredients (The Best Alfredo):
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups whipping cream (1 pint)
- 3 ounces cream cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese (we used the green can)
- 8 oz. noodles of choice
Directions (The Best Alfredo):
1) Cook shell noodles according to package directions.
2) Meanwhile, add butter, heavy whipping cream and cheese cheese to a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat and whisk until melted. Add the minced garlic, garlic powder, italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Continue to whisk until smooth. Add parmesan cheese.
3) Bring to a simmer and continue to cook for 3-5 minutes or until it starts to thicken. Toss as much sauce as you'd prefer with cooked noodles. You may have extra for dipping rolls or breadsticks.
Note: We served this Alfredo sauce with Italian Crusted Chicken and New York Garlic Knots (found in the freezer isle).
