Letter L Songs & Rhymes

1) London Bridged Falling Down.
  • Stand while singing this song. When you sing "falling down" have your child fall down and touch his/her hand on the ground.

London bridges falling down,

falling down, falling down.
London bridges falling down,
My Fair lady.

2) Mary Had a Little Lamb.
Mary had a little lamb,
little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
Whose fleece was white as snow

Everywhere that Mary went,
Mary went, Mary went,
Everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go.

3) Little Piggy.
  • Wiggle your child's toes as you sing this song.

This little piggy went to market,
(wiggle your child's biggest toe)

This little piggy stayed home.
(wiggle your child's second toe)

This little piggy ate roast beef,
(wiggle your child's third toe)

This little piggy ate none.
(wiggle your child's fourth toe)

And this little piggy went
Wee, wee, wee! All the way home
(wiggle your child's pinky toe)

4) Five Little Ladybugs from Nuttin but Preschool.
  • Print the ladybugs from the link above. Laminate and place a magnet on the back of each ladybug. Place all five ladybugs on a magnetic cookie sheet and remove them as mentioned in the song.

Five little ladybugs climbing up a door,
One flew away, and then there were four.

Four little ladybugs sitting on a tree.
One flew away, and then there were three

Three little ladybugs landed on a shoe.
One flew away, and then there were two.

Two little ladybugs looking for some fun.
One flew away, and there there was one.

One little ladybug sitting in the sun.
She flew away, and then there were none.

5) Leo the Lion.
  • I couldn't find the tune anywhere, so you can make up your own tune or simply say the words with your own actions.
Leo the Lion is the King of the Jungle,
And his jaws are big and wide.
If you hear him roaring
it is bound to be a warning
that you better run away and hide.
Shhh! You better run away and hide.
Shhh! You better run away and hide.
 ROAR!

6) Lamb Colors Poem.
  • Print a set of colored lambs (best toys 4 toddlers) and use them while you say this poem. Say the rhyme and see if your toddler can guess which color of sheep comes next.
Can you guess the color of our first lamb?
It's the color of yummy, strawberry jam.
(hold up the red lamb)

The sky above and the ocean, too,
The next lamb is the color ... blue!

The stars and moon shine brightly at night,
The next lamb is the color ... white!

The next lamb is a jolly fellow,
It's the color of sunshine, the color ... yellow!

Frogs, grass and pickles you've seen
The next lamb is the color ... green!

Dark licorice in a sack,
Can you guess which lamb? It's the color ... black!

Grapes are this lambs favorite to eat,
Can you guess the color of his favorite treat?
(hold up the purple lamb)

Goldfish swimming in the sea,
The lamb exclaims, "he's the color as me!"
(hold up the orange lamb)
