Letter K: Kool Aid & Magic K's, Amazing Kool Aid Activities (Day 2)

1) Kool Aid & Magic K's: This activity was one of my two's favorites! You'll need:
  • Kool Aid Packets (we used blue, purple and green)
  • Water
  • White Crayon
  • White Card Stock
  • Paint Brush (Optional: Use a spray bottle instead)
  1. Draw Letter K's with a white crayon on your piece of paper. The paper will still appear white.
  2. Have your child help you mix one kool aid packet with a small amount of water. We used about 2 Tbs of water per color. When we dumped the blue packet into our mixing bowl the powder was white, but when we added water it turned blue! Easton couldn't stop talking about how cool it was.
  3. Have your child paint with the kool aid and reveal all the hidden Letter K's!

2) Amazing Kool Aid Activities: There are so many fun things to do with Kool Aid! Choose which one(s) works the best for you and your child.
  • Yogurt & Kool Aid Finger Paints from Fun at Home with Kids: Mix vanilla OR plain yogurt with kool aid to use as a finger paint. We espeially loved painting paper on a tub wall.
  • Potato Finger Paint Recipe from Growing a Jeweled Rose: Mix Potato Flakes, Water and Kool Aid together to use as a finger paint.

  • Kool Aid Play Dough from Kids Activity Blog: We loved playing with this Kool-Aid Playdough. It's so easy to make in the microwave and takes about five minutes to make. It has a great soft texture. Click the link for the recipe and to see how we played with it this week.
  • Kool Aid Glowing & Erupting Rocks from Mommas Fun World: Hide small, plastic letter K's inside. Mix 3 Cups of Baking Soda and 1/2 Cup of Hair Conditioner for the rocks. Add neon paint if you'd like the rocks to glow under a black light. Have them erupt by squirting vinegar on them with a squeeze bottle.

  • Magic Snowballs from Mommas Fun World: Mix 3 Cups of Baking Soda to 1/2 Cup of Hair Conditioner for the snow. Optional: Add sparkles. Mix 1/2 Vinegar and 1/2 Water with Kool Aid into squeeze bottles.

  • Scented Sand Play from Mommas Fun World: Mix 26 oz. Salt, 1 Packet of Kool Aid and a couple teaspoons of water.
  • Scented & Bubbly Goop from Mommas Fun World: Mix together 2 Cups of Baking Soda, 1 Cup of Cornstarch, and 1 Cup of Water. Mix together. Sprinkle Kool Aid onto the goop and watch it fizz and bubble.
  • Kool Aid Rice from Mommas Fun World: This would be fun to use as a base to a sensory bin. I love the vibrant colors. You'll need: 3-4 Cups of Rice, 2-3 Cups of Water, 1 Packet of Kool Aid, 1/3 Cup of Vinegar. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Sit for 1/2 hour. Drain Rice and lay on a cookie sheet to dry overnight.
