Letter C: ABC Cup Hunt, Letter A Book, Handprint Art (crab), Letter C Songs
1) ABC Cup Hunt from Playdough to Plato: This is a fun and interactive way to review the alphabet.
- Write letter A-Z on plastic cups.
- Place 3-5 cups in a row. Have your child guess which cup has a pom pom (or treat!) underneath.
- Another Option: Hide the cups around the house. Go on a cup hunt. Hide a pom pom or treat underneath a few of the cups. Once your child finds a cup, have them identify the letter or tell them the letter if they don't know it yet. See if there's a surprise underneath!
2) Letter C Book from the Measured Mom: This book only has 8 or so pictures. My two likes reading these little books and recognizing some of the pictures. I also like that there's a Letter C on each page. I often ask my two, "What letter is this?" as we flip through our book.
3) Letter C Handprint Art (Crab) from Puppy Dog Tails: I originally saw this idea on the Letter C Craft List from The Measured Mom blog. I loved it the minute I saw it. Instead of sand or marker, we used Corn Meal for the sand. Here's what you need:
- Paint your child's hands (one at a time helps) with red tempera paint and direct their hands to stamp onto your paper.
- Once the paint dries, have your child help you glue on the goggly eyes.
- Mix 1 Tablespoon of glue with 1/3 cup water to create a paste. Use a paintbrush to paint the paste where you'd like the "sand" to be (your child can help you if you're up for it).
- Immediately place your paper on a cookie sheet and have child dump cornmeal onto the paper. Help your child move the paper from side to side making sure the cornmeal covers all of the pasted area. You may need to repeat this step until all the sand is covered.
- Use a black marker to write the Letter C, if desired.
4) Letter C Songs & Rhymes from The Measured Mom: We always sing all of the songs/rhymes together and choose a few of our favorites. We really enjoyed C is for Clouds and C is for Caterpillar. This year, I'm putting together an interactive songs & rhymes series. Click the link to view.
