Letter B: Bubble Art, Bouncing Bubbles, Sensory Bin, Giant Bubbles (Day 5)

1) Bubble Art from Broogly: We want to do a similar idea, but use pipe cleaners instead of bubble wands. You'll need:
  • Five Pipe Cleaners (form them into small, medium and large wands)
  • Bubble Solution
  • Food Coloring
  • White Paper
  1. Form five pipe cleaners into " bubble wands" - make the circle at the bottom of the wand different sizes - small, medium, large.
  2. Pour bubble solution into five different bowls.
  3. Add food coloring to each of the bowls.
  4. Dip pipe cleaner in the bubble solution and blow it onto a piece of white paper.
  5. NOTE: We tried these, but they didn't work very for us. We used liquid water color instead of food coloring, so maybe that's what made the difference?

2) Blow Chocolate Milk Bubbles from Preschool Alphabet:

3) Bubbles Sensory Bin from The Measured Mom: My two loves any type of sensory bin with water, and adding bubbles to the mix was an excellent addition. I like to bring our items out one at a time to allow for more creativity. We started with just water, then added the kitchen items, then added the bubbles. You'll need:
  • Plastic Bin - I bought ours from Walmart
  • Kitchen Items - Measuring Cups & Spoons, Whisk, Funnels, Pots, Etc.
  • Water
  • Bubble Solution

4) Bouncing Bubbles from A Little Pinch of Perfect: We haven't tried these yet, but they look fun!
  • 4 Tablespoons of Water
  • 2 Tablespoons of Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Dish Soap (concentrated)
  • Kid Gloves - these allow the bubbles to bounce on your hand
  • Bubble Wand
  1. Mix all the ingredients together until the sugar dissolves

5) Giant Bubbles from Happy Hooligans: This was a HUGE hit! And probably one of the best activities of the entire series. We saved this activity for a Saturday morning while dad was home. Click the title "Giant Bubbles" for the bubble recipe and a few tips. For a quick guide, view below:
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 1/2 cup blue Dawn Dish Detergent
  • 1 tablespoon baking POWDER
  • 1 tablespoon glycerine

  1. Mix the water and corn starch together in a large bowl.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  3. Let the mixture sit for at least an hour or overnight.
  4. Dip your straw bubble wand (click the tutorial link above to see how to make these) in the bubble mixture and walk backwards for the bubbles to form. NOTE: Our first few bubbles popped pretty quickly. The bubbles got better and better the more we tried.
