A list of our favorite Letter P books: The Caterpillar and the Polliwog by Jack Kent: This book is about a caterpillar that goes around telling everyone that she's going to turn into something else one day. The polliwog is intrigued and later finds out he's going to turn into something else one day, too, and assumes it will be a butterfly. As the caterpillar spins her cocoon, the polliwog anxiously waits until he looks in the reflection and realizes he's a beautiful frog.  Perfectly Percy by Paul Schmid: This it the cutest story of a little porcupine who loves balloons. Here are our favorite books for Letter I: Imogene's Antlers by David Small: This is a book that both my boys (ages 3, 1) and I loved. It's about a girl, named Imogene, that wakes up and realizes she has grown antlers. It's hard to do all sorts of things including getting dressed, walking through doorways and going downstairs. After a long day, Imogene falls sleep and wakes up in the morning and the antlers are gone! When she walk in the kitchen, her parents are thrilled until they realize what has grown instead. Manana Iguana by Ann Whitford Paul: Another favorite at our house this week. This book came with a CD to read along with, which my boys both enjoyed. This book is a version of The Little Red Hen. It teaches about helping others and friendship.  I Wanna Iguana by Karen Kaufman: For one reason or another, this was my three's most requested book to read this week. This book is about a boy that really wants an iguana, but the mother isn...

The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson: The was my three's very favorite book this week and he pretended to be a gruffalo all week long. It's a book about a little mouse who runs into a snake, fox and owl who all want to eat him for lunch. The mouse outsmarts the animals by telling them, "A gruffalo is meeting me for lunch. What's a Gruffalo? You haven't heart of a Gruffalo? He has yellow eyes, a wart on his nose and sharp teeth." This fib scares all the animals away. Read to find out happens when a gruffalo really does appear and what the mouse does to outsmart him. Goldie and the Three Bears by Diane Stanley: This was another book that was requested to read a lot this week. It's a spin on Goldilock's and the Three Bears, with a really cute ending.  The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Paul Galdone: My three has been obsessed with this story for over a year. It's a story about three billy goats (teaches small, medium and big) that run out of...

Edward the Emu by Sheena Knowles: This book is about an emu, named Edward, who wants to be seen at the zoo. Edward goes into different zoo animal cages, trying to resemble the animal inside the cage. However, when he returns to his own cage, he finds a very pleasant surprise! My boy (ages 3, 1) both love this story.  Edwina the Emu by Sheena Knowles: This is a sequel to the book above and my three especially loved this book! It's about Edwina, an emu, who lays ten eggs and feels like she needs to find a job. "Yeek! said the man practically chocking. An emu doing ballet, you've got to be joking!" We loved the rhymes and ending to the book. Family is always most important. Little Donkey Close Your Eyes by Margaret Wise Brown: This book is a really cute bedtime story. Each page is a different mother animal telling her baby to close their eyes and fall asleep. My three loves donkeys, so I knew he'd love this book. The Empty Po...
