Magic Leprechaun Rocks

Image
If you choose to do ONE activity from my blog, let this be it! These Magic Leprechaun Rocks created an afternoon full of smiles and jaw opening expressions. My two loved looking around our back yard for magic rocks and throwing them in our big bowl of leprechaun water (vinegar). Each rock had a plastic gold coin hidden inside, so after the rocks bubbled in vinegar for a minute or so, the gold coin would float to the top of the vinegar. Thank you for this wonderful idea - from  Gift of Curiosity . These were so much fun, we made similar Alligator Eggs to go along with our Letter A theme this year. Supplies: Baking Soda (we used 4-5 cups) Water Food Coloring Vinegar (we used a large container) Plastic Gold Coins Directions: 1) Fill a large bowl with 4-5 cups on baking soda. Add water little by little until you create a paste. You want the mixture to be damp - not too wet and not too dry. You should be able to make a ball with the mixture that will hold it'...

Bubbling Pots!

We did this activity for Saint Patrick's Day this year, although it would really be fun anytime of the year! We used them as leprechaun pots, although they could also be used for witches brew at Halloween. My kid's (ages 3 & 1) especially loved how each pot bubbled into a different color. This activity was simple to set up and a lot of fun. This fun idea is from  Little Bins for Little Hands . You can add a drop of red + blue to make purple or blue + green to make turquoise, etc. I also placed plastic gold coins around the cookie sheet and in a few of the pots. 2) Fill a cup full of Leprechaun Water (v...

Saint Patrick's Day 2017

Image
Last year we spent an entire week celebrating Saint Patrick's Day! We did green food each morning, and a themed craft and activity each day. My two year old especially enjoyed hunting for these erupting MAGIC leprechaun rocks, going on an alphabet coin hunt and painting with frozen shamrocks (you can view these activities by clicking on the green link above). I wish I had planned more in advance this year, because there are so many fun Saint Patrick's Day activities to do. With all that said, we had a great Saint Patrick's Day morning this year! As I was getting things ready downstairs, I heard my three wake up and very enthusiastically yell, "It's Saint Patrick's Day!" My husband was luckily home and could distract him while I got the rest of our activities ready. When the kids came downstairs our leprechaun had made a big mess with our stuffed animals. They were all over the floor. Hidden in the stuffed animals were gold chocolate coins and a clue to ...

SUNDAY : We keep it pretty simple on Sundays. Easton woke up to a knock on the door - who could it be on a Sunday morning? Easton ran over to the door, opened it, and met our most recent talked about visitor - Silly McGilly ! Silly McGilly is the Leprechaun that will be at our home this week offering Saint Patrick's Day books, activities, crafts and chocolate gold coins. Today he showed up on our doorstep with his very own book and box of Lucky Charm's Cereal. MONDAY : 1) Morning Surprise : Silly McGilly brought us Saint Patrick's Day Books & Green Bubbles. 2) Breakfast : Silly McGilly colored our French Toast and Milk green! 3) Saint Patrick's Day Songs:  In place of a craft, we learned two Saint Patrick's Day Songs while eating breakfast today. We learned  Five Green Shamrocks  (free download) and  Five Little Leprechauns  (create an account for a free download). We'll go over these songs throughout the week. 4a) Activity: Decorate...
