Letter N Songs & Rhymes

At the start of this alphabet series, I made a lot of props to use while singing songs and rhymes. I have learned that my kid's (ages 3 & 1) favorite way to learn is with actions. It's actually a bonus for me too, because actions take no additional prep time for me. Below are three of our favorite Letter N Songs. We used these songs as apart of our Letter N Activities . 1)  N is for Nest   by Jean Warren. Do actions while you sing this song. Two little blue birds in a tree, (hold up two fingers and place them on your other arm) Built a nest for all to see. (put your hands in a bowl shape in front of you) Along came the babies.. one, two three. (rock a baby, hold up fingers one, two three) Now they're a happy family! (point fingers to your mouth and smile) 2)  N is for Nail  from The Measured Mom.  Hammer nails with  hammer toys  or a  kids tool kit  for this activity. This is the way we pound our na...

Letter H Songs & Rhymes

Here are our favorite action songs and rhymes for Letter H: 1) Humpty Dumpty. Option One: Build a wall with legos (try different heights!) on a cookie sheet. Sing this song as your child places Humpty Dumpty (a raw egg with a drawn on smile) on the wall. When you sing "had a great fall" have your child push the egg off the wall and watch it break open onto the cookie sheet. My three LOVED this idea from Preschool Alphabet .  Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall All the king's horses  And all the king's men Couldn't put Humpty together again. Option Two: Shake Humpty Dumpty egg shakers (plastic eggs filled with rice and taped closed with electrical tape - draw a face on the eggs) while singing this song. Have children drop the egg when cued in the song. 2) Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes. Action Song - touch the part of the body as you sing. Optional: Use different ways to sing this song. ie: slow, fast, ...

Letter G: Songs & Rhymes

1) The Gingerbread Man.  Color a paper gingerbread man with crayons. Hold the gingerbread man while sitting or running around in a circle saying this rhyme. Run! Run! As fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man! 2) I Know a Giraffe - Author Unknown. Use actions while singing this song.  I know a giraffe, (point to self) With a neck that's so high. (point to neck) She stretches and stretches Until it reaches the sky. (stretch hands higher and higher) She lives on the plains (point to the ground or another area as the plains) With the elephants, too. (sway arm, pretending to be an elephant trunk) You may also see her when you go to the zoo. (place hand above your eyes, pretending to see a giraffe at the zoo) Tune: Old Smokey 3) The  Garden Song  from DLTK. Shake rattles (with letter G office stickers on the back - see below) while singing this song.  Grapes grow...
