Letter J: J is for Jewels Craft, Fruit Loop Watch, Jewels & Jello Excavation (Day 3)

1) J is for Jewels from The Measured Mom:

  • Write a block letter J on a piece of paper and have your child identify the letter.
  • Easton chose a jewel to use, I put glue on the back of it and Easton chose where to place the jewel. Next time, we will use larger jewels.

2) Fruit Loop Watch or Bracelet: Have your child practice his/her find motor skills by stringing fruit loops (or beads) onto a pipe cleaner.

3) Jewels & Jello Excavation: Since we're learning about Letter J this week, we had to incorporate Jello! I'm not sure exactly how we'll do this, but any way it will be fun!
  • Jello (prepared according to box directions)
  • We'll either use a glass pan, jelly roll pan or an ice cube tray to have the jello set in.
  • Play Jewelry (dollar store jewelry, coins, beads, etc.)
  • Excavating Tools: fork, spoon, spatula, measuring cups, tweezers, etc.
  • It would be fun to add baking soda to the jello or pretend you're on a treasure hunt chest to find the hidden jewels. More details to come.
(we did a jelly bean and farm jello excavation earlier this year. Actual picture and details to come)
