Pumpkin Cookies

If you're looking for a delicious pumpkin cookie recipe, this is the one for you. These cookies are AMAZING. The mix of sweet from the brown sugar glaze and salty from cookies is unreal. They get a 10 in my book. You've got to try them. Rating: 10/10 Ingredients (cookies): 2 cups butter 2 cups white sugar 2 cups canned pumpkin 2 eggs 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon salt 4 cups flour Ingredients (brown sugar glaze): 6 tablespoons butter 8 tablespoons milk 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 cups confectioners' sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract Directions: 1) Cream butter, white sugar and pumpkin. Add eggs and mix well. Sift together the baking soda, ground cinnamon, salt and flour. Add to the pumpkin mixture and mix well. 2) Drop from spoon to cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees. 3) To make the frosting: Cook butter, milk and brown sugar until dissolved. Cool and add confectioners' sugar and vanilla....

Letter F: Letter of the Week (age 3)

Here's what our week looked like for Letter F:  Read, Read, Read . I love reading to my kids on a daily basis. My three has always loved being read to, but my one is pretty hit and miss. Most days, I'll read to both of them while they're eating breakfast. I checked out our  Letter F Booklist  at the library a week in advance. The picture above were our very favorite books, but you view more great Letter F books by clicking on the booklist link. Read Letter F Book . We also love to read these  Little Letter Books  from The Measured Mom. There are only eight or so pictures in each booklet. 1) Five Little Speckled Frogs. Print, cut out and tape/glue these   Five Little Speckled Frogs  (from Picklebums) onto popsicle sticks. Cut five slits into an empty paper towel roll for the popsicle sticks to go in. Remove them as prompted in the song. Five Little Speckled Frogs, Sat on a speckled log, Eating the most delicious grub Yum! Yum! One jumped into the pool, Where it was nice and cool Now there are four green speckled frogs. (Repeat: Four, Three, Two, One) 2) Old MacDonald Had a Farm. Option One: Print a barn and have your child choose one farm animal sticker at a time to place on the barn. Family Home Evening: Baptism

**Other Baptismal Lessons:  Kit Kat Baptismal Covenants ,  here (includes covenants with pictures) and here (includes baptism jeopardy).  Prayer: Scripture - John 3:5. Explain that Jesus is speaking in this verse and teaching us something we need to do in order to live in heaven again with Heavenly Father and Jesus. Read the verse and explain that "born of water" is referring to baptism. Song: " When Jesus Christ was Baptized " from the Children's Songbook page 102. When Jesus Was Baptized: Use these visuals (shown below) to teach your children about when Jesus was baptized. Each visual has a summary included. I printed the summaries and glued them onto the back of the pictures, so I could show my children the pictures while reading the summary on the back. This family home evening lesson is apart of "A Year with the Book of Mormon." Click the link to learn about our other  Book of Mormon Heroes . Prayer : Song : " When I am Baptized " from the Children's Songbook. Before singing the song, talk about what it means to be baptized. We are baptized at age eight and it's an important thing we need to do, so we can live with Heavenly Father again. 1) Hero Poster : Hold up the picture below and tell your child(ren).. Today we will be learning about a new Book of Mormon hero,  Alma . We'll learn about his story and how he helped teach people about Jesus and baptized them.
