Reindeer

Image
Reindeer Footprint/Handprint Art Project : I love how this turned out! We used Easton's footprint for the head and his handprints for the antlers. Glue on some goggle eyes and use a red do-a-dot marker for the nose and you're set! Click here for a tutorial . Roll a Reindeer : Easton rolled a die and got to glue on the corresponding reindeer part. I had him match our die to the die on the worksheet with the same amount of dots. This was a fun activity!  Click here to print .

Santa Crafts/Acitivites

Santa Ornament : We made salt dough and Easton loved playing with it! We spend over an hour rolling the dough, making shapes, using cookie cutters to stamp in the dough, etc. Once we were about done, I used a bowl to make a circle cutout in the dough. I had Easton stamp his cute handprint in the dough, baked the dough and painted a Santa face onto it (first picture). Click here for a Santa Ornament tutorial.   I've also seen a similar idea as a Santa Claus Handprint (second picture).       Santa and his Reindeer Scene : I LOVE this idea. Easton finally let me stamp his foot green for the sleigh. We used his handprints for the reindeer and his fingerprints for Santa and Rudolph's nose. This turned out so cute, I want to frame it. I also really like  Fingerprint Santa/Reindeer Scene (second picture).     Cottonball Santa : I've seen a lot of different versions of this craft on Pinterest. We chose to do a simple one. I'll be honest, E...

Letter C: Cookie Craft, Cookie Jar Number Matching, Chocolate Chip Cookies (Day 4)

Image
1)  C is for Cookie  from The Measured Mom: I love crafts that use the letter we're working on during the week. I found this idea on the  Letter C Craft List  on The Measured Mom blog. We are going to do ours a little differently, including real chocolate chips. 2) Cookie Jar Number Matching from Tot Schooling: This is such a darling printable and would be a fun way to review and match numbers. We have this   Count and Learn Cookie Jar  (second picture). I found it at Ross a few weeks ago. I like this game, because it also incorporates fine motor skills while learning numbers. The jar asks to find certain numbers and counts for you as a child inserts cookies. Both my boys (ages: almost three and one) love this game and plays with it often. 3) Make Homemade Cookies: I think it's so much fun to bake together with my kids. There's so much learning involved, but I always have to remind myself to expect messes. My great grandpa left behind an amaz...

Thanksgiving: Turkeys (Day 2)

Image
Books: We read some of our favorite Thanksgiving Books  about Turkeys before doing our crafts. Turkey Headbands : Easton loved this art project! He would yell "gobble, gobble" while wearing his headband. I had Easton glue the eyes, beak and feet on the turkey himself. I helped him glue on the feathers, so they would fan out correctly. I made a few minor adjustments, but click  HERE  for directions on how to make these. Handprint Turkeys : These turkeys were really fun to make. We decided to do handprint turkeys, but footprint turkeys are just as cute. Click here for a tutorial  on handprint or footprint turkeys.

Thanksgiving Theme (Day 1)

Mayflower Handprint Art Project : We attempted to make a Mayflower handprint art project. Easton wasn't feeling it today, so we bagged it for another day. Maybe we'll try again tomorrow. Update: Easton was interested the next day, so we finished our Mayflower project! (See below) We used finger paint for the ocean, along with an octopus sticker Easton randomly found and cotton balls for the clouds.  Click here for a tutorial. T is for Turkey : I printed this page as well as a couple of other similar pages from a Thanksgiving Tot Pack  I found online. We used Power Magnets  to fill in the circles and a magnetic cookie sheet for this activity.  Thanksgiving Number Match : I printed these from the same  Thanksgiving Tot Pack   mentioned above. I helped guide Easton's finger as we counted the Thanksgiving pictures together. Then, he found the matching number to complete the puzzle.  Native American Shape Project : I printed and cut ou...

Turkeys (Day 1)

Image
Turkey Craft : I found the cutest idea on Pinterest for a Turkey Craft. I love using Easton's handprints in crafts, so I'm sure that's why I love it so much.   Click here for a tutorial. Turkey Feather Matching Game : This is one of my favorite math Thanksgiving activities. It's great for a variety of levels - it comes with numbers 1-10 and 11-20. Kids can match number to number or quantity to number. This would be a great file folder activity. Click here to print.   Turkey Size Ordering : I printed and cut out the turkeys pictured below. Easton is able to order the turkeys from biggest to smallest with some help. I laid all the turkeys out in front of Easton and asked, "Which on is the biggest?" And we set it at the top of our art table. "Now which one is the biggest?" And we set it next to the one at the top of the table. We continued doing this until he ordered all of them.
