Letter O: Orange Stamping, Lid Prints, Obstacle Course

Image
Orange Stamping : I found this idea on the Letter O Crafts list on the measured mom blog. I bought some oranges, we dipped them in orange paint and we stamped them on card stock. Afterward, I like to write the Letter O on all of our crafts we do this week, as an extra reminder of the letter we're learning. I also hang all of our crafts on the fridge as a daily reminder to learn Letter O. Lid Stamping : I also found this idea on the  Letter O Crafts  list on the measured mom blog. I bought a few gatorades this week and saved the lids for this activity. We kept out our orange paint from the previous activity, and I added some other colors for Easton to dip lids into. After he stamped the lid, I would always ask him, "what letter is that!?" and he would always respond with Letter O! Obstacle Course : I set up an obstacle course with things that we already have in our house. We used our Little Tikes Slide (this is used daily at our house), hula hoops - use these ...

Letter O - Ocean: Crafts, Habitat Stickers, Ocean in a bottle, Ocean Sensory Bin

Image
O is for Ocean : I found this idea on the  Letter O Crafts  list on the measured mom blog. We didn't do this activity, but I like it so much I'm going to post it anyways. I love how it includes the Letter O in the craft. Check the dollar store first, and if they don't have them, here's a link to buy  Ocean Stickers .                                       Handprint Ocean Scene : This is also one of my favorite crafts we've done so far! I mixed glue and water together to make a watery paste. I painted the bottom of the page with the glue mixture and Easton helped me dump cornmeal onto the paper. We shook the page over the garbage can to get rid of the excess corn meal. Easton glued on all the ocean animals and their eyes and we used glitter glue (from the dollar store) for the bubbles, scales and bodies. Ocean Habitat Page : Instead of the sticker activity mentioned abo...

Letter O - Owls: Craft, Shapes, Opposites

Image
Owl Craft #1 : I found this idea on the Letter O Crafts  list on the measured mom blog. This was one of my very favorite crafts we've done so far - most likely because it includes Easton's darling hand prints. Easton loves snow owls, so we made ours white. We used a celery stick, dipped and stamped with brown paint for the feathers. Owl Craft #2 : I found the  Owl Craft  below on no time for flashcards and have to post it, because I think it's adorable. I love how it uses the Letter O to make an owl. They used construction paper and a brown dot marker for the feathers. Owl Shape Match : I found these darling owl shape printables  on mommyhood from holland (see picture below). Easton matched the shape on the owl to his home (the matching shape on the tree). Easton hasn't learned the names of all the shapes (like trapezoid), but it was still a great matching activity. Owl Opposites : I found another great free printable " Owl Opposites " from 1+...

Letter O: Help the Letters Obstacle Course, Letter O Book, Letter O Handprint Art (Octopus), Letter O Songs (Day 1)

1) Help the Letters Obstacle Course : Use items you already have at home to make an obstacle course.  Here are some Ideas:  Little Tikes Slide , hula hoops from the Dollar Store, art table to climb under (from Ikea), bouncing horse toy, tunnel, couch cushions, ottoman, and a basketball hoop.  Place foam or plastic letters at the beginning of the obstacle course. Tell your child, "The letters need help reaching the end of the obstacle course. Can you help them!?" Have your child identify the letter before, during or after the obstacle course. You could even take a few letters at a time if you want. Time your child. 2) Letter O Book from The Measured Mom: Identify the pictures and big Letter O on each page. (picture to come) 3) Letter O Handprint Art (Octopus) : Remember to keep these to put into a book at the end of the series. Paint both of your child's hands blue (except for the thumb) and stamp them onto a piece of paper. Letter O Songs : ...

Letter O - Octopus: Craft, Dot Page, File Folder

Image
Octopus Craft : I found this idea on the Letter O Crafts list on the measured mom blog. I love crafts that include the letter we're working on during the week! Our octopus is pictured first. We glued on the letter O (head) and then I put eight lines of glue coming out from the head. At age 20 months, Easton did a great job gluing on the legs. I was planning on gluing on cheerios as tentacles on our octopus, but Easton wasn't up for the idea and I didn't push it. For a better idea, see the second picture below from the measured mom blog. Octopus Dot Page : I printed our  O is for Octopus  dot page from the measured mom blog. We used Do-a-Dot Markers to stamp the page, but we also love using office stickers and power magnets /cookie sheet to fill in the dots.  Octopus File Folder : I printed our  Octopus File Folder  to review colors and color matching. I printed and laminated our set and used velcro to attach the pieces, although this isn't ne...
