Letter C: Booklist

Here's a list of our favorite Letter C Books we checked out from the library this week:

Little Cloud by Eric Carle: This is one of my favorite books of our letter C booklist. It's about a little cloud that drifts away from the others and moves to form different shapes. My almost three loved telling me what the shapes looked like - one looks like a sheep, one looks like a clown, one looks like an airplane, etc. At the end of the book, the little cloud joins the others and it starts to rain.

The Cow Loves Cookies by Karma Wilson: This book is a cute story about a cow that loves cookies. My boys (almost three and one) both love any book that includes farm animals, so this one was a winner for them. Read this book to teach your kids what other farm animals eat and find the reason why the cow loves cookies!

Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type: This is another cute and entertaining story. I'm not sure if my almost three caught on to the humor, but I found myself smiling at the end. Read this book to learn about how the cows outsmart their farmer and what the duck does about it.

It's My Birthday by Helen Oxenbury: This book is about a little girl that wants to make a cake for her birthday. Each of her animal friends has a certain job to help make the cake. This book teaches about helping and team work. And at the end, they all get the reward of eating the cake.

Cactus Hotel by Brenda Z. Gulberson: This book is a little lengthy for toddlers, but my almost three and I really enjoyed reading it together. It teaches about a cactus and the many ways it's beneficial to animals in the desert. It's titled the Cactus Hotel, because of the desert animals that come and go living inside.

If You Give A Cat A Cupcake by Laura Numeroff: This is a simple book about a girl that gives her cat a cupcake and what the cat will want next. "If you give a cat a cupcake, then she will want sprinkles to go on top. The sprinkles will remind her of the sand on the beach, so you'll have to take her to the beach." Lots of vocabulary and cute illustrations.

The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss: This is a really quick read about a boy who grows a carrot seed. It teaches that no matter what people tell you, you can still succeed.

Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by James Dean: My boys both loved reading this book! It's about a cat that loves his white shoes. He accidentally steps in strawberries and it turns his shoes red. It's no problem though, because now he loves his red shoes. This book teaches to go with the flow and have a good attitude no matter what comes our way.

Who Took the Cookies from the Cookie Jar? by Bonnie Lass: We learned the song "Who Stole The Cookies From the Cookie Jar?" this week, so this book was especially loved by my toddlers. Read about a skunk that goes on a quest to find who took his cookies. I really enjoyed this book.

My Car by Byron Barton: We have to have a car book in our letter C booklist. This is a cute book with simple illustrations about a man and his car. We learned about parts of a car, traffic signals and a surprise ending. It's a quick read and my boys both enjoyed it.

Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker: We own this book and my almost three loves it. For a while, he requested this book every night as his bedtime story. It teaches about teamwork, the names of trucks and their responsibilities. The rhyming words are catchy.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle: This is another book we own and a favorite of both my boys (ages: almost three and one). It teaches the life cycle of a caterpillar in simple terms. My one loves poking his finger in the holes on the pages, where the caterpillar has eaten through a food item.

Cupcake by Charise Mericle Harper: Cupcake is disappointed because unlike her siblings, she is just plain vanilla. A candle comes along and together they brainstorm different topping ideas: spaghetti, pickles and even smelly cheese.. Read this darling book to find out what the choose for a perfect topping.
