Korihor & Counterfeit (Alma 30 - Come Follow Me)

Korihor and Counterfeit. Our at home church lesson very inspired by @meckmomlife

1️⃣ Read the story of Korihor (we read from the Illustrated Book of Mormon). Talk about the false teachings of Korihor and how some believed, but others recognized the false teachings. Alma recognized the false teachings and taught Korihor signs/evidence of a God: the prophets, scriptures, and our surroundings (seed growth/planets perfectly revolving).

2️⃣ Ask your children if they want $20. Give one a real $20 and the other a fake $20 you’ve made. Talk about the differences in how they feel and look.

3️⃣Watch Treasury Video. Sometimes bills can look very similar, but one is real and one is counterfeit (or fake). The U.S. Treasury has put in a lot of safety precautions for us to know the bill is authentic (like the watermark). Hold bill up to the light to see the watermark.

4️⃣ Heavenly Father, the scriptures and prophets always teaches us truth or “watermarks”. Satan tries to trick us into thinking things are fun and enticing, when really they are not good for us. If you feel like somethings not quite right or a little off, there is no watermark in your fun and perfect looking bill.

5️⃣Money Sort. Talk about different truths (see photo for ideas) and place them underneath the real $20. Talk about things Korihor taught, or other things that can trick us depending on age level (lying, stealing, drugs, pornography, etc.) and place them beneath the fake $20.
