Letter J: Booklist
Here are our favorite books for Letter J:
Peanut Butter and Jellyfish by Jarrett J. Krosoczka: This book was one of my three's favorites. It's about two friends named Peanut Butter and Jelly Fish who love to explore the ocean. They always brace themselves for when they pass Crabby's rock, because he makes unkind comments as they swim by. One day Crabby gets stuck in a lobster trap and Peanut Butter and Jelly Fish decide what would be best. This book teaches about kindness, apologizing and friendship.
The Giant Jam Sandwich by John Vernon Lord: This book was a house favorite! One day in Itching Down, four million bees swarmed to town. The townspeople have a meeting to decide what to do to get rid of the bees! The baker decides to make a giant sandwich with jam for the bees to eat, and get stuck in. I love the creative storyline.
Jellies by Twig C. George: This is a great book to introduce real life pictures and facts about jelly fish. The text isn't overly long, which was perfect for my boys (ages 3, 1). My three loved pretending to be the dangerous box jelly fish. Another favorite of my three.
Jump! by Scott M. Fischer: Both boys (ages 3, 1) loved this book. When a bug sleeping on a jug is chased by a frog, he has to jump to get away. But then that frog, who's sleeping on a log, is in for a similar surprise! He's attacked by a cat who needs to jump away from a dog and so forth. This book builds on repetition and by one loved all the animal pictures.

No Jumping on the Bed! by Tedd Arnold. This book is about a boy who is warned by his father before bedtime not to jump on his bed. As the little boy lays down to sleep, he decides one last jump for the night won't hurt. As he jumps, the floors beneath him breath through until he finally crashes to the bottom floor of the apartment building. We enjoyed the surprise ending.
Jack and the Beanstalk by Rosemary Wells: We couldn't pass up on the classic story of Jack and the Beanstalk with Letter J this week.
Sheep in a Jeep for Nancy Shaw: This is a rhyming book about sheep in a jeep that get stuck in the mud and crash their jeep. The illustrations are humorous and it's a quick read.
