Letter D: Booklist

Bark, George by Jules Feiffer: This book was my three's very favorite this week! It's about a dog, named George, who isn't quite able to bark. Instead he says things like meow, oink and moo. Find out what happens when his mother takes him to the vet. My three thought this book was hilarious and requested to read it over and over this week.

10 Little Rubber Ducks by Eric Carle: This a counting book, but uses ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc.) It's about ten rubber ducks that get lost in the sea. Read to find out where each duck ends up. My three also enjoyed this book.

Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs by Mo Willems: After reading a few books about Goldilocks and bears a couple weeks ago (for letter B), we had to read one about Goldilocks and dinosaurs this week. This book is another twist on the famous story. My boys (ages three and one) love anything having to do with dinosaurs, so this one was a winner.

Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion: I love this book. It's about dog, named Harry, that hates to take baths! When he hears the water running, he buries the scrub brush outside and runs away. While he's away he gets to dirty, he turns into a black dog with white spots instead of a white dog with black spots. He returns home and his family doesn't recognize him! See what Harry does to convince his family that it's really him. This book teaches about love - no matter how dirty (mistakes) our children get, we (parents) will always love them.

Duck on a Bike by David Shannon: We all loved this book. It's about a duck who sees a bike and gets the crazy idea of riding it! He drives past all the other farm animals to say hello and show them his cool, new bike. As he rides past the pigs, duck stands on the seat of the bike with one leg in the air! See what happens when a group of boys leave their bikes by the barn unattended.

10 Black Dots by Donald Crews: This is a simple counting book that reviews the numbers 1-10.

All Aboard the Dino Train by Deb Lund: Combine dinosaurs and trains together, it's no wonder by boys (ages three and one) loved this book. The stoke the boiler, stow the luggage, and when hills are steep, they even get out and push. The train goes up and down, faster and faster until the dinos realize the breaks are out!

Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs by Byron Barton: I love the simple words and illustrations in this book. It's a quick read and teaches different characteristics of the dinosaurs long ago.

There's no such thing as a Dragon by Jack Kent: My three especially loved this book. It's about a little boy that finds a little dragon in his room and when he tells his mom, she says, "There's no such things as dragons!" But, the dragon that keeps growing and growing until it's the size of the house!

Dog by Matthew Van Fleet: My boys (ages three and one) both love this book! It's geared toward toddlers and young children as they learn about different kinds of dogs with pull tabs and flaps.

How do Dinosaurs say Happy Birthday? by Jane Yolen: It was my three's birthday this week, so this book tied in perfectly with a birthday and dinosaurs.
