Come Follow Me: September 14-20 (3 Nephi 8-11)

Jesus Christ invites me to come to Him.

3 Nephi 8-11. You may not be able to share with the children all the details of the Savior's appearance to the people of Nephi, but you can hep them feel the love He showed the people.

My Joy is Full from ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Watch this short video clip of what it was like when Christ visited the Americas.

Reflector Analogy from Meck Mom. I have her monthly Book of Mormon subscription, and find so many great object lessons. This is one of the three ideas for this week. Talk about reflectors and what they're used for (protection and safety). How do they shine? Where's the battery? Well, there isn't a battery. Explain how they only shine when they are lit by something else (like a head light or flashlight). Talk about how Jesus is our source of light. He invites us to come to Him and be like Him. When we follow Him, His light shines through us and protects us from harm.

Jesus protects His people as a hen protects her chicks.

3 Nephi 10:4-6. The image of a hen gathering her chicks can teach the children about the comfort and protection the Savior offers if we will come unto Him.

Short Animated Video.

How Oft Will I Gather You? from Latter Day Kids. We use this resource every week and I highly recommend it. There is a great object lesson, animated video (so well done) and discussion questions.

Baby Chick Crafts.

Watch the animated video and do this craft afterward, or simply talk about how Jesus loves us and will always protect us when we come to Him. Relate this to how a hen gathers her chicks.

Fork Painted Chick from Crafty Morning. How fun to paint with a fork!

Balloon Printed Chicks from I Heart Craft Things. Dip a balloon in paint and create this adorable chicks with grass.

Tissue Paper Baby Chicks from Simple as That.

Jesus Christ wants me to be baptized.

3 Nephi 11:21-26. The children you teach are preparing to be baptized. Christ's teachings these passages can help them know why baptism is important.

Baptism from News with Naylors. This lesson teaches about the covenants we make at baptism. Children learn what they promise and what Heavenly Father promises in return. For a treat, we made these "8" donuts, to remember the age we are baptized.

Baptism Jeopardy from News with Naylors. This is a good review of Christ's baptism, and the covenants we make at baptism. My kids LOVED earning points and playing this game.

Learning Pennies Object Lesson from News with Naylors. When we are baptized, we are made clean. And as often as we repent and take the sacrament, we are made clean again.

Baptismal "KIT" from News with Naylors. This is the easiest way to remember our baptismal covenants. K - Keep the Commandments, A - Always Remember Him and T - Take His Name Upon You. Discuss what these mean and have Kit Kats for a treat!
