All About Worms (Worm House)
Today we learned ALL about worms. We chose to do everything in one day, but these activities could easily be split up into multiple days.
➣ WORM FACTS
The worm facts book (which includes handwriting) is from this $5 Worm Unit from Curriculum Castle. It's on a website where you create a free login to purchase/download.
If you'd rather read a book to learn fun facts about worms, we love this one: Yucky Worms by Vivian French.

➣ WORM HOTEL & INVESTIGATION
Make a worm hotel with an empty peanut butter jar! Dig for worms, get an up close look with a magnifying glass, measure the worms to find the longest/shortest with an inchworm ruler (also from the Worm Unit linked above), and then place them in your worm hotel. Over the next few days, you'll be able to see worm tunnels and worms digging through the sand/dirt. Here's a video tutorial:

➣ WORM PAINTING
Save some extra "worms" (noodles) from lunch and use them to paint! This activity isn't only an open ended art project, but it's all a great sensory/texture activity. One of my kids has a hard time with textures, so these type of activities are really beneficial for him. Children have to use fine motor skills to handle the noodles, and you could even talk about colors/color mixing while doing this activity.
