Pretzels & Prayers (Enos)

Pretzels and Prayers. If you're looking for a fun and interactive family home evening lesson or "Sunday Church", we loved this one. You read about Enos and talk about how his "soul hungered". You relate being physically hungry to being spiritually hungry. What do we do when we're hungry? We eat. What did Enos do when his soul hungered? He prayed.

Children learn a story about a monk and why he gave his students PRETZELS as a reward for their memorized prayers. Make pretzels with your children (recipe included). While you're waiting for the dough to rise, hide the printed pretzel puzzle pieces around the room and have your children find them. Put the puzzle together. One at a time, choose a puzzle piece and answer the question on the puzzle piece relating to prayer.

A prayer chart is included, if you want something tangible to remember prayer throughout the week. You can view a video tutorial on my instagram page: newswithnaylors.

What included? A detailed lesson plan.

Recipe and instructions to make home made pretzels (remember how much learning is involved when children help in the kitchen).

While the dough rises, you hide these puzzle pieces around the room. Children find the pieces, put together the puzzle and take a piece at a time and answer the questions regarding prayer.

Prayer Chart. Put stickers on the chart for each time you pray for the next few weeks.
