Week 10: Miracles of Jesus

Morning Meeting (Miracles of Jesus - Matthew 8-9; Mark 2-5): After Jesus came down from the mount, he began performing many miracles. Go through each of the miracle pictures found in the PDF (this can be in one morning or a series or mornings) and discuss each miracle. Ask your children if miracles still happen in our day. Discuss. I really liked this excerpt from A Year of FHE:

"Do you know what a MIRACLE is?

- a Miracle is an extraordinary event showing Heavenly Father's help in our lives.

There are things we think are impossible, but the scriptures tell us that for Heavenly Father nothing is impossible.  Heavenly Father can make miracles happen through His faithful servants on earth.

When Jesus was on the earth he performed a lot of miracles.  He performed miracles to many reasons.

- to prove that he was the Son of God
- to strengthen the faith of those who believed in him
- because he loved those in need
- because of the faith of those who believed

We are going to learn about just a few of the miracles Jesus performed."

Family Home Evening:

1) Have the kids take turns teaching dad about the miracle pictures we discussed this morning.

2) Miracles of Jesus Treasure Map. Take turns as a family rolling a die and moving your marker (we used a hatcnhimal) accordingly. When you land on a box with a scripture, read the verses together and have your children find the picture that matches. Place the picture on the box and continue the game until you reach the treasure. There is also a map with blank boxes in the PDF if you want to write in your own miracles or include additional verses. I only wrote in 2-3 verses in each box to help with toddler attention spans. Optional: Give your children a gold coin or other treat when they reach the treasure box.

3) Miracles in Your Family. Talk about miracles Jesus has performed in your family's lives. It could be as simple as an answer to prayer or a time your felt prompted to do something. My older boys and I have all had experiences where we've been in pain or sick and dad has given us a priesthood blessing. We were all blessed to be healed. I believe they are all considered miracles.
