Exciting Announcement!

Hello! As much fun as I have had on News with Naylors, my time and energy are being focused on a different path. I wanted to let you know these two things: 1) @newswithnaylors on instagram has a few Come Follow Me activities that I try to post as often as I can. 2) I have a new website! I will be posting children activities as well as selling children activity boxes. The website is www.playbeyondthebox.com. We are currently selling a "Christmas Around the World Box" and "Winter Art Box" that have 4-5 activities inside for two children. The boxes give parents all the supplies they need and give children really fun hands on activities, learning through play and a way to express their creativity.  Thank you for being on this journey with me! Please use those two resources as a way to stay connected with me. Thank you! Kate

Come Follow Me: Mormon 1-6 (October 26 - November 1)

Image
Throughout the week, I will be uploading new ideas to this page!  Mormon 2:26. "The strength of the Lord was not with us; yea we were left to ourselves, that the Spirit of the Lord did not abide in us; therefore we had become weak like unto our brethren." The Nephites knew the gospel, and willingly chose NOT to follow the commandments. They became so wicked, and had many chances to repent and chose not to. In Mormon 6:12-15 it talks about the many leaders and their thousands of soldiers that fell.  Mormon 1:13-14. “Wickedness did prevail upon the face of the whole land, insomuch that the Lord did take away his beloved disciples.” We recently learned how Jesus came to visit the Americas, and established a beautiful church built on prophets, the priesthood, prayer and gospel principles.  Does your child have a favorite stuffed animal? What would they do if someone starting being rough with the stuffy or grabbed a pair of scissors to cut it up? This analogy is how Hea...

Come Follow Me: September 21-27 (3 Nephi 12-16)

I can be a good example for others. 3 Nephi 12:14-16. Sometimes children might not realize how much their examples can bless others. Use these verses to encourage them to let their light shine. Let Your Light Shine  from Little Family Fun. Write ways we can be examples to others on strips of yellow card stock. Glue them around the orange circle, and your children will realize it's a sun (which gives off light). We can be a light to others when we do these things. Reflector Analogy  from Meck Mom. I have her monthly Book of Mormon subscription, and find so many great object lessons. This is one of the three ideas for this week. Talk about reflectors and what they're used for (protection and safety). How do they shine? Where's the battery? Well, there isn't a battery. Explain how they only shine when they are lit by something else (like a head light or flashlight). Talk about how Jesus is our source of light. He invites us to come to Him and be like Him. When we follow Hi...

Jesus Christ invites me to come to Him. 3 Nephi 8-11. My Joy is Full  from ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Watch this short video clip of what it was like when Christ visited the Americas. When we follow Him, His light shines through us and protects us from harm.  Jesus protects His people as a hen protects her chicks....

Come Follow Me: September 7-13 (3 Nephi 1-7)

A new star appeared when Jesus Christ was born. 3 Nephi 1:4-15, 19-21. The New Testament account of the Savior's birth is well known, even by children. This week is a great opportunity to teach the children in your class about the miracles the Nephites witnessed when Jesus was born. Video Clip: The Signs of Christ's Birth  from ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Watch this short video clip about the Nephites and the prophecy of the new star. Star Craft Options: Help the children understand that the Nephites were far away from where Jesus was born, but they knew He was born because of the signs they saw. Testify that even though we did not see the Savior's birth, the Holy Ghost can help us know that the stories about it in the scriptures are true. Stained Glass Nativity :    Puffy Paint Star  from I Heart Crafty Things. We made these stars a while ago when we learned about "Letter S" in our  Letter of the Week Series . Puffy paint is one of our favorite ways to paint. Pops...

This week, we are PLAYING GAMES to learn about three important principles from Come Follow Me. The Lord wants me to Remember Him.
