Letter G: G is for Giraffe, Salt Painting Giraffe, Giraffe Spots Numbers & Colors Game (Day 4)

1) G is for Giraffe: I found a similar idea on the Letter G Crafts list on the Measured Mom blog. We will make our head look like the picture on the right. I also like the brown background.
  • Yellow and Brown Construction Paper
  • Small Marshmallows
  • Brown Paint
  1. Draw a large letter G on a piece of yellow paper.
  2. Let your child dip a marsh mallow in brown paint and stamp it onto a letter G.
  3. Once the paint dries, cut out the letter G and glue onto a piece of brown paper.
  4. Hang on fridge and admire your child's work all week!

2) Giraffe Salt Painting from Toddler Approved:
  • giraffe template (or you can draw a giraffe on paper)
  • Elmer's Glue
  • Salt
  • Liquid Water Colors (or food coloring) mixed with water
  • Pipette OR medicine dropper
  1. Help your child squeeze large drops of glue to create spots on your giraffe.
  2. Sprinkle salt all over the glue and wait for the glue to mostly dry.
  3. Fill up a pipette with colored water and squeeze a small amount of water onto the giraffe spots.
  4. OPTION: Use Dot Markers to stamp dots on your giraffe template.

3) Giraffe Spots Number Game from Toddler Approved:
  • Print a giraffe template
  • Write #'s 1-6 (or 1-12 if you'd like to do two dice) on the giraffe
  • Roll the die, count the number of dots, and place a cheerio (or bingo parker) on the correct number.

4) Giraffe Spots Color Game:
  1. Place a small ball of sticky tack or a magnet on the back of your giraffe and foam circles (spots).
  2. Stick the foam circles to the refrigerator, hiding the giraffe behind one of the circles.
  3. Have your child ask, "Giraffe, giraffe, are you behind the (color) spot?" Lift up the dot to see!
  4. Give your child a small chocolate chip for guessing the correct spot.

(picture to come)
