Image
Items Needed: A Cheerful Giver PDF (*FREE* on  Teachers Pay Teachers ) Prayer : Song : “Jesus Said Love Everyone” - Children’s Song Book page 61. Scripture : 2 Corinthians 9:7  The apostle, Paul, wrote this important principle in one of his letters: “Let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”  Ask your children what they think it means to be a cheerful giver. What does a cheerful giver look like? Discuss. Cheerful means happy, optimistic (positive attitude), bright, smily, etc. And a giver means someone that helps others.   Opening Activity : Are You a Cheerful Giver? Preparation: Print and cut out the fruit and baskets (pages 6-9).  Place the baskets together, so the basket looks brown on the front and back. Staple the sides and bottom of the baskets together, leaving the top open (this is so the fruit can slide into the basket). Pretend you are at a farmer’s market. Have chil...

Peach Cobbler

Image
While we were at the farm this week, we picked some "peaches" to take home to make Peach Cobbler (from Pinch of Yum). When I went to check out, I learned what a nectarine was. Apparently a peach and a nectarine are in the same fruit family, but a peach is fuzzy and a nectarine's skin is smooth. I'm glad I'm 32 and finally know the difference. Technically, we made a "nectarine cobbler" and it was amazing. INGREDIENTS: (Peach Filling) 5-6 large fresh yellow peaches, sliced 1/4 cup sugar (Cobbler Topping) 1/2 salted butter, melted 3/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder a pinch of salt whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving INSTRUCTIONS: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Smear the bottom of a 8x8 pan with a little bit of butter. Add peaches and sugar, and mix directly in the pan. Mix the butter, sugar, vanilla, flour, baking powder, and salt until a cookie dough like batter forms.  ...
