Easter Week: Celebrating Christ & His Resurrection

Image
2020 Update:  5 Ways to Teach Your Children of Jesus' Resurrection I have recently updated our Easter Wreath to go along with the Come Follow Me curriculum. Starting the Sunday before Easter, children will learn about what happened each day of the week before Jesus' resurrection. There are scripture passages and pictures for children to add onto their wreath each day. My plan as a family is to read the scripture passage, watch the corresponding bible video on LDS.org and glue or staple the corresponding picture on the wreath. Click for a Free Download:  Easter Wreath Completed Wreath Palm Sunday: The Triumphal Entry (Sunday prior to Easter) Background : On the Sunday before Easter, Christians throughout the world wave branches in memory of Jesus entering the city of Jerusalem. On that triumphant day, He humbly rode a donkey through the streets. People were so happy to see Him that they waved palm branches and shouted "Hosanna!" The word hosanna  co

Egg Hunt Ideas

Image
Glowing Egg Hunt : All you need for this egg hunt are large plastic eggs and bracelet glow sticks - which can both be bought at the dollar store. The smaller the glow stick the better. I had a little bit of a hard time folding my glow sticks enough to fit inside the eggs. I had to tape a few eggs shut, but it did the trick. My three LOVED this activity. We did our glowing egg hunt indoors, but it would be fun to do outdoors if the weather was nice enough. After finding all the glowing eggs, add them in the tub for another fun activity! Flashlight Egg Hunt : If you don't have the time to buy glow sticks, hide Easter eggs around the house or yard and use a flashlight to find the eggs! The picture below is from a google website. Little Bins for Little Hands is the best website to find tested and GOOD slime recipes. There are a bunch of different versions to make - foam slime ,   fluffy slime , liquid starch, borax OR saline slime . Surprise Egg Eruptions . Mix baking soda and water together to form an egg and hide a little plastic toy inside. Dry the eggs overnight. Have your children drop the eggs in different colored vinegar to reveal a surprise. (picture here) Magic Paint Easter Egg . The reason they call this paint magic, is because it puffs up and only takes a minute or two to dry! I thought it would be fun to use an egg template and have the kids decorate them with pastel colored paint. My boys LOVE this stuff. Tape Resist Easter Egg . This is just an idea. It would be fun to make the lines go across the egg or buy zig-zag tape. It helps to use  painters tape  - it doesn't rip the paper when you peel it off.
